Shark week sees sharks as friends.
With approximately 30% of all species of sharks classified as near threatened or worse, shark conservation is more important than ever. It’s time for Shark Week to generate buzz by changing the narrative. Big bad sharks always had the spotlight, but what about the sharks that cuter than they are scary? It’s time for adorable sharks to shine.
Adoption Site
Shark Week raises conservation funds by spearheading a shark adoption campaign. People are able to browse through sharks that are currently in our oceans. Each shark is given an adorable bio:
“ Benny is a cautious boy who always looks both ways while swimming. He is a little overweight, but that just means he has some extra pounds to love. But he could really use someone to help let his confidence shine. Adopt this sweet lad today! ”
With adopting, you’ll be able to access live updates of where your shark is currently swimming, a personalized adoption certificate, and of course a stuffed version of your new friend.
Pocket Shark Game
Shark Week releases a mobile game allowing users to take care of an adorable pocket-sized version of a real-life shark that you can feed, swim, and play with. The game has a call-to-action that leads you to the adoption site where you can adopt your shark friend for real.
Youtube Pre-roll
Youtube pre-roll ads will air prior and during Shark Week. These mock-umentary video clips will each feature a cute species of shark.
Snapchat Ad
An interactive SnapChat ad that allows users to use the pause feature to stop on a carousel of sharks so that they can read their adoption bios. The ad also leads to the main adoption site where people can browse through even more sharks.
